Choice Hotels Australasia is thrilled to announce it has partnered with not-for-profit group Kids Under Cover (KUC) to help to prevent youth homelessness through a program that builds studio homes for at-risk youth. This partnership will allow Choice Hotels to make a difference to the lives of young people across Victoria and to work with KUC to raise awareness of the issue of youth homelessness and the importance of prevention and early intervention.
Choice Hotels will participate in volunteer maintenance days at KUC studios that are in need of a refresh, provide funding for and assist with the build of one KUC studio and provide accommodation support to KUC’s studio monitor staff and corporate team. Kids Under Cover offer fully re-locatable unique accommodation in the form of studios that are constructed on the grounds of the family/carers home to provide young people with a safe, secure and stable environment to grow into healthy adulthood.
Trent Fraser, Choice Hotels Chief Executive Officer, said he was humbled to be able to support an organisation that plays a role in the early intervention of preventing homelessness among at risk young people. “It’s important to us that we support an organisation that makes a real difference in the community. I’m looking forward to having my team and our franchisees work with Kids Under Cover to give disadvantaged young people the opportunity to reach their full potential,” he said.
Jo Swift, KUC Chief Executive Officer, said the organisation firmly believes the most effective way to reduce the number of young people experiencing homelessness is by providing shelter, education and mentors to help young people stay connected to their family, to education and their community. “With the support of community minded businesses like Choice Hotels Australasia who understand the importance of making people feel at home, young people will be able to build a brighter future,” said Swift.
